Tim Gilchrist

Navigating both clients and peers through challenging times, Tim Gilchrist acts as partner in the truest sense of the word. His 20 years of experience within industry and public practice enables him to focus on client relations and internal mentoring and managing, while allowing him to stand tall as an advice-giving counsellor with sharpened focus on owner-managed businesses and tax planning.

A graduate of Grant MacEwan College, Accounting Co-op Diploma and The University of Lethbridge, Bachelor of Management Degree with a Major in Finance, Tim’s collection of certifications is as impressive as his substantial collection of vintage vinyl. He holds the honoured distinctions of Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified General Accountant, and Chartered Professional Accountant. Excited by new challenges, Tim is currently enrolled in the In-Depth Tax Program through CPA Canada, sits as a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Estate Planning Council of Edmonton, and of the Bylaws and Rules Committee of CPA Alberta, and works diligently on his ancient motorcycle to maintain its road-worthy status.

Like everyone at Givens LLP, Tim welcomes the challenges offered by a diversity of client needs, and experiences greatest fulfilment when those in his charge feel most taken care of. It is this trait which drove him to volunteer for the Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area as a member of their Finance Committee, and it’s this same sentiment which continually motivates him to help everyone – be it clients, staff or his children, grow and find happiness in life and in business.
